Newton’s Nook Designs June Release and Giveaway – Day 1

Hello friends and welcome to Day 1 of the Newton’s Nook June release! I’m so excited for this release because it’s full of beach and summer images – my favorites!

All new products for this release will be available for purchase on Friday June 18th!

My first project uses the Newton’s 4th of July stamp set and Fireworks stencil – they are a perfect pair!

I started by creating the background. I used navy cardstock and stenciled first with white pigment ink. I wanted it to look like the fireworks were only in the sky so I only stenciled on the top half-ish of the card base. Next I added a few colors of Distress Oxide ink on top of the white (I would suggest using lighter, brighter colors for this like Twisted Citron or Mustard Seed).

Once the ink was dry (I may have helped it along a bit with my heat gun), I added a final layer of glitter gel (I used the Iridescent Glitz Glitter Gel by Gina K/Thermoweb). Now set that aside to dry while you work on your images.

I really wanted to use this cute Newton with his sparklers but any of them would work great here. I just stamped and colored him and then die cut with the coordinating dies.

Once my background was dry, I added the die cut image with foam adhesive. It’s not easy to see in the pictures, but I also added a bit of iridescent Stickles to each of the sparklers to give them, well, a little bit of sparkle!

I finished this card with a simple sentiment from the same set that I embossed with gold.

Next up is a card using the new Buns Out stamp set and coordinating die:

As soon as my 15 year old daughter saw this one, she totally wanted a card for her best friends birthday made with it:

I wanted that little burger to take center stage! I created a sun background for him (because I’m literal like that). I used a circle stencil (but you could create your own by die cutting a circle from cardstock). I blended Mustard Seed Distress Oxide ink in the circle until it was covered completely.

To make the sun look a bit more hazy, I removed the stencil and used the remaining ink left on my blender brush to continue blending over and around the sun. The key here is to know when to stop!

I then added the stamped and die cut burger with foam adhesive and the sentiment below it. For a finishing touch, I added glossy accents to his sunglasses.
