Newton’s Nook Designs August Release – Day 3

Hello friends and welcome to Day 3 of the Newton’s Nook August release! Today we switch to the cozy side of fall?

All new products for this release will be available for purchase on Friday August 20th!

My first project uses the new Fall Friends stamp set and coordinating dies – spoiler alert, this might be my favorite product of the release!

I was so excited to see Newton together with his puppy friend in this image so I could color them to look just like my Finn and Ginger (although “friends” might not be a word I would use to describe their relationship):

I knew I wanted to create a “front porch” scene for this image. I started by die cutting a piece of white and a piece of kraft cardstock from the stitched rectangle die that is part of the Frames & Flags die set. To give the look of siding, I cut the white piece into strips that were about 3/4″ wide and added a little bit of gray ink blending along the edges. I then just reassembled the rectangle onto my card base.

I added a trimmed piece of the kraft die cut along the bottom (the image is large enough to cover the seam so no need to worry about how that looks).

After I stamped, colored and die cut the main image, I added it to the background using foam adhesive.

I finished the card with a sentiment placed in one of the “siding” sections using orange ink.

Next up is another really fun image to color, Heartfelt Gourds:

The bulk of the time taken to create this card is the coloring (the most fun part in my opinion). I selected shades of yellow, orange, green and a bit of teal for this image.

I then die cut the image using the Heart Frames die set. I wanted to do something a little different with this image so I used every ounce of courage I had, and I cut it in half! I then attached each side to my card front.

I finished by added my favorite sentiment from the set on a banner from the Banner Trio die set.
