Thankful for You – Brutus Monroe

BM Thankful for You

There are so many ways to use the branch image from the Feathered Homes stamp set from Brutus Monroe! I especially liked using just a portion of the stamp off the edge of my card panel to create an all-over pattern.

There is something about the way the image is drawn that reminds me of toile fabric patterns so keeping this card very simple with black and white stamping was my first thought.

The sentiment panel covers the center so I only stamped around the edges and it filled in perfectly.

The sentiment is from the Tree of Thanks set – so many well designed sentiments in that one!  I added a small pop of color behind the sentiment panel – just find a scrap of your favorite color cardstock!

If you don’t want to stamp the entire border, you can just try a few at the top of a panel to give the impression of a canopy of trees.

For this card, I embossed the branches and sentiment with Alabaster embossing powder and ink blended over top with green and blue Distress Oxide inks using a blender brush.

BM Thank You Enough

I popped this smaller panel on top of a white card base that had been embossed with a woodgrain pattern (any pattern would work to just give a little texture here).

Tree of Thanks – Brutus Monroe

BM Thank You

There is something so delicate and graceful about this tree image from the Tree of Thanks set by Brutus Monroe.  White embossing and soft ink blending seemed like the perfect fit for it!

I stamped both the tree and sentiment on bristol smooth cardstock using VersaMark ink and coated it with Alabaster embossing powder.

After the embossing powder cooled off, I started ink blending with a variety of Distress Oxide inks (Tattered Rose, Abandoned Coral and a tiny bit of Aged Mahogany).  I started at the bottom and worked up to only cover the tree at the top.

Finally, I wiped the embossed images with a dry cloth to remove the excess ink and added a few clear sequins for a bit of shimmer.

Feathered Homes – Brutus Monroe

BM Welcome Home

As soon as I see a new stamp set, my first thought is almost always “can I make it rainbow?” with bonus points if I can make it a grid!  So the Feathered Homes stamp set from Brutus Monroe was a winner on both fronts!

Using a stamping platform, I lined up the birdhouses and sentiment from the set and stamped them on bristol smooth cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to color them but you could certainly use any coloring medium you have on hand.

I added soft ink blending on the edges using Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass ink and a blending brush.

Finally, I trimmed the panel to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and attached it to a standard A2 card base.

So quick and simple – just the way I like it!
