Use My Stuff – Easter/Spring Challenge

Challenge 6 easter spring graphic square

Some of you may have a little extra crafting time right now – the perfect opportunity to Use Your Stuff!!  So I’m going to continue to post these challenges (and hopefully get back on track with timing).

However, if you are currently finding yourself in a position with very little crafty time because you are an essential worker, adjusting to a new virtual working model or taking care of family members, these challenges will be here for you when you come back!  There is no time limit – even if you are creating Easter cards in the fall, I would love to see them!

A reminder of the basic “rules” of the challenge are:

  • A new challenge theme will be posted twice a month on the 1st and the 15th both here on my blog and on Instagram.
  • Use your stuff and share using the hashtags in this graphic.
  • Tag me so I can see what you’re up to!
  • You are welcome to use the hashtag with projects that you have created for other challenges.

And just because there is a new theme – that doesn’t mean you can’t keep creating using the old ones!  I’ll keep a running list of past themes here too:

Use My Stuff – Beach Challenge

Although it’s been a relatively mild winter, I’m still tired of the cold!

So I’m going to find all of my beachy stamps and dies and think about being somewhere warm and tropical (while I’m crafting in my fuzzy slippers and layers!)

A reminder of the basic “rules” of the challenge are:

  • A new challenge theme will be posted twice a month on the 1st and the 15th both here on my blog and on Instagram.

Use My Stuff – Layering Challenge

Welcome to another challenge!

Let’s put all of those layering products to use this time – stamps, dies, stencils – if it layers, it works!

A reminder of the basic “rules” of the challenge are:

  • A new challenge theme will be posted twice a month on the 1st and the 15th both here on my blog and on Instagram.

Use My Stuff – Sympathy Challenge

Challenge 3 sympathy graphic square

Time to add another challenge!

I recently needed a sympathy card and realized I had none on hand – these are never the cards you want to make, but they are some of the most important to send.  My go-to for sympathy cards is muted colors and usually some kind of leaves.  It just feels like a calming combination.

A reminder of the basic “rules” of the challenge are:

  • A new challenge theme will be posted twice a month on the 1st and the 15th both here on my blog and on Instagram.

Use My Stuff Love Challenge – Happy Heart Day

I’m really starting to like this “just don’t color it” technique!

I used a combination of images from Lawn Fawn for this card.  The circle in the background is another one that came from my backgrounds stash.

I heat embossed a heart background stamp with onto watercolor paper (it’s an older Simon Says Stamp background that is discontinued but I’m sure you can find something similar).  After the heat embossing cooled, I used Distress Ink mini cubes to smear color onto the paper, sprayed generously with water and let it dry.

Once it was dry, I die cut it using a really old wonky circle die from my stash – you could either cut a regular circle and leave it as is or trace it and hand-cut it for a similar look.

Everything was attached to standard A2 card with foam tape for dimension.

Thanks to everyone that played along with the birthday challenge!!

Now let’s add something new.  What is pink and red with hearts all over it?  Instagram!  Or any other place you look for crafty inspiration.  So let’s put all those ideas and our supplies to use and start making some love themed projects.

A reminder of the basic “rules” of the challenge are:

  • A new challenge theme will be posted twice a month on the 1st and the 15th both here on my blog and on Instagram.
  • Use your stuff and share using the hashtags in this graphic.

Now start spreading the love!

Use My Stuff – Birthday Challenge

Challenge 1 birthday graphic square

Over this holiday week, I’ve spent time organizing my craft room and putting away all of my crafty gifts (aka stuff I bought for myself over Black Friday weekend and asked my husband to wrap so I would feel less guilty). And I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed with the amount of “stuff” I have that I haven’t used yet.

I tried approaching the idea of using my supplies in an organized way at the end of the last year and found it really helped me stay focused (one month I only used MFT products and the second month I only made holiday cards). So I’m going to continue with the idea of periodic themes and thought it might help others if I shared them!

So the basic “rules” of the challenge are:

  • I will try to post a new challenge theme twice a month both here on my blog and on Instagram (shooting for the 1st and 16th but as you can see, I’m already late so plan to get used to that).
  • Use your stuff and share using the hashtags in this graphic.
  • Tag me so I can see what you’re up to!
  • You are welcome to use the hashtag with projects that you have created for other challenges.

Simple, right?  Like me, my card making style and my social media graphics.

MFT New Best Friend – October Use My Stuff Challenge

I consider this card a bit of a self-portrait – me holding our lab Finn (who is too big to be holdable now but, you know, artistic license) and our cat Ginger (making her “what the heck is that?” face).

I don’t usually go for the “all over” scene card front (love them when other people do it but mine always look too busy).  This one I am good with!

The little sprigs of grass were just made by flicking a Copic marker – for sure, the most stressful part of making the card.

MFT Best in Show – October Use My Stuff Challenge

Get ready for a dog filled day!  These Best In Show stamps from My Favorite Things had been on my wish list so I was really happy to receive them in our swag bag at Junkie Fest this year!

After coloring and die cutting all of the images, I used post-it tape and oxide inks to create a blended little home for each scene.
