Smitten Kitten Birthday Tags – Newton’s Nook Designs

These bright and colorful birthday tags are so versatile and super easy to make!

The base is a simple white tag cut from the Fancy Edges Tag Die Set from Newton’s Nook Designs. I then chose a few colors of cardstock from my scraps and used the Birthday Roundabout stamp set and clear embossing powder to add a subtle birthday pattern to each color.

I then used the same tag die and one of the edge dies also included in that set to strategically cut out another tag from the center of the stamped embossed image.

I selected an ink color that closely matched the cardstock to add a sentiment along the bottom of the tag.

I then searched my stash for some basic cat images (the Smitten Kitten set was great for this but Newton’s Nook has so many to choose from!). I wanted to keep the look of these tags very light and bright so I decided to keep the kittens white and just added some light gray shadows. I used T0, T2 and just a smidge of T4 Copic markers. I then used the coordinating dies to cut out the images.

To assemble, I just added white ribbon to hold the two tags together and used foam adhesive to attach the images to the front of each tag. Now these are ready to attach directly to a gift or to a card front!

This design would be so easy to change up! Try using different colors of cardstock or images to create tags for any occassion!
