National Coffee Day – Newton’s Mug by Newton’s Nook Designs

Happy National Coffee Day friends!! I decided to break out my somewhat unloved brown range of distress inks for today’s card.

To create the blended ink panel, I started with a piece of Distress Heavystock and blended a variety of Distress inks to create a background that looks like one of those fancy coffee drinks my daughter orders (shhh…don’t tell but I don’t actually drink coffee).

To give it a little extra something, I splattered a little bit of water on the panel and used a jar I keep at my desk to create the “ring” (just add a little water to the rim and let it set on top of the panel for a minute).

I wanted to use one large image so I chose Newton’s Mug and colored the mug in yellow green colors. Once I die cut it, I added it to the card front with foam adhesive.

The ring created the perfect spot for a heat embossed sentiment (from the same set).

Thanks so much for stopping by!
